California contractor gets $31M contract on Naval Base Guam

Naval Facilities Engineering Command Pacific has awarded a $31,683,336 firm-fixed-price contract to Gilbane Federal of Concord, California to refurbish four enlisted housing units on Naval Base Guam.

According to a release from the Department of Defense, buildings 5, 6, 18 and 20, will be converted to double-occupancy, permanent housing units.

The contract calls for the addition of shared kitchens, vending areas, shared laundries along with the construction of common areas and multipurpose spaces.

This project includes the full renovation of the second floor of Building 18.

An option in the contract, if exercised, could increase the cumulative contract value to $32,966,436. 

The work is expected to be completed by October 2022. 

The money is coming from the Navy’s construction budget for the 2019 spending year. The funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year, the release states. 

This contract was competitively procured via the Navy Electronic Commerce Online website. Four proposals were received.
