Cold-brew and nitro coffee are back in Tumon with Coffee Slut’s return to the tourist district.

Recently, coffee enthusiasts have only been able to get their Coffee Slut fix in East Hagåtña across from Crust.

The new shop, on the ground floor of the Grand Plaza Hotel across from the Tumon police precinct, opened its doors two weeks ago. A grand opening is slated for next month.

“We started in Tumon,” said Coffee Slut co-owner Justin Benavente. “We moved back to Tumon because we love the village and wanted to serve the tourists and the locals in this area.”

Cold-brewing and nitro brewing enhance flavor and texture

Coffee Slut is known for its two signature blends that use two different brewing processes: cold-brewing and nitro brewing.

Cold-brewing involves soaking coffee grinds in cool water overnight to extract the rich flavor. Nitro brewing runs the coffee through a kegerator, which looks like a beer keg. The kegerator infuses the cold-brewed coffee with nitrogen, making the coffee creamy and giving it more body.

New on the menu: Kisses and bagel sandwiches

The shop also sells cappuccino, latte, espresso, and a new item: kisses, which are sweet, blended espresso drinks.

Benavente and business partners Melchor Manibusan and Kyle Aguon also sell bagel sandwiches and other breakfast food. And the shop offers free Wi-Fi and plenty of space in which to meet and relax.

“We’re excited to serve you here. It’s a really cool spot in Tumon to hang out with your friends,” Benavente said. “Come by and grab a cup.”
