There are a lot of issues that our leaders need to address and issues that will require funding. They are talking about supporting a contract for specialized legal experience to join the class-action lawsuit on the possible water contamination from bad chemicals, and they want this a priority.
It makes me angry to see legislation being introduced without a price tag and how far can we go to fund these services. There are other budget priorities that also have no price tag and have been ongoing and are serious community issues.
The migration of individuals under the Compacts for Free Association is affecting our island's safety in regards to increasing crime, homelessness, and neglect/abuse of children. Our leaders need to wake up and realize the priorities to tackle, and pursue legislation to sue the federal government for more Compact impact funds to deal with our serious community issues.
