Agriculture: No, they're not sea snakes so leave them alone

HARMLESS: The Department of Agriculture Division of Aquatic and Wildlife Resources sent out a reminder to beachgoers, divers, and snorkelers that there has never been a sea snake reported in Guam’s waters. Guam does have a Banded Snake Eel (Myrichthys colubrinus), which looks similar to a snake. The Banded Snake Eel is neither venomous nor dangerous and it is not a cause for concern. Anyone with concerns about this or other marine organisms is asked to call (671)735-0289/82/91/94 or email fisheries@doag.guam.gov.
