THE comment deadline for the proposed North Ramp and Andersen South Future Defense Policy Review Initiative Project Design Studies on Andersen Air Force Base is Sept. 30, according to an announcement from Naval Facilities Engineering Command Pacific.

The Navy has posted new information online about the proposed projects which are related to the relocation of U.S. Marines units to Guam. The information is available on the Cultural Resources Information page of NavFac Pacific’s website at: http://goo.gl/5I25S, according to the announcement.

These programmatic agreement memos are for consultation regarding potential effects of design studies only. Consultation for individual projects will be undertaken once Congress has approved funding for each project and design efforts are complete, according to the announcement.

Individuals without Internet access may pick up a written description of the projects and a comment sheet from the Guam Historic Resources Division located at the Department of Parks and Recreation office in Agana Heights, across from U.S. Naval Hospital Guam.

The North Ramp project proposes to conduct geotechnical and topographic surveys to support project design efforts for future improvements and vertical construction projects within the 614 acres of the North Ramp area at Andersen. The effort may require munitions of explosive concern removal, according to the posted memo.

The Andersen South project proposes similar surveys for a 1,946-acre study area at Andersen South.
