SNAP program benefits now available

SNAP: A Quest card is used at a Guam store. Benefits under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program can now be accessed after a delay of a few days. Post file

Island residents who receive benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, and Cash Assistance Program can expect delays.

The Department of Public Health and Social Services said issuance for this month may be delayed by four to five working days.

The governor declared a state of emergency earlier this week for the agency after DPHSS' main office was deemed unsafe following an electrical fire.

The Guam Fire Department assessed the building and deemed it unsafe.

DPHSS is asking for the public's patience as it moves to get all services back in full operation.
