A man who had been fishing at the Merizo Pier on Friday afternoon drowned, according to Guam Police Department spokesman Sgt. Paul Tapao.
Officers from the Southern Precinct Command responded to a report of a drowning around 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
The male victim was fishing with family members earlier in the day.
"While in the water, a family member noted the male victim faced down and not moving in which the victim was discovered unresponsive," said Tapao.
The man was brought to shore and a bystander performed CPR until Guam Fire Department medics arrived and transported the victim to Naval Hospital Guam where he was later pronounced deceased.
Police have not released the identity of the drowning victim.
