Thirteen airmen from the Guam Air National Guard 254th Security Forces Squadron departed over the weekend en route to a deployment in support of Operation Freedom Sentinel in Southwest Asia.
The airmen are tasked with protecting federal property from hazards such as sabotage, espionage, trespass, theft, fire, and accident or willful damage and destruction, the Guard stated in a release. They will "maintain law and order, preserve the peace, and protect life and civil rights within the U.S. Central Command Theater of Operations in order to engineer combat power and establish and sustain combat platforms."
They will join other airmen from the 254th Security Forces Squadron, the 254th Red Horse Squadron and the 254th Comptroller Flight currently deployed or supporting missions around the world.
"The Guard asks the public for their continued support as this deployment has a significant impact on our Air Guard component," the release added. "Please keep all of them in your thoughts and prayers."
