A United Airlines flight returned to Guam Friday evening about an hour after it took off for Nagoya, Japan.
It’s unclear what made United Flight 2832 turn around. The flight called the Guam airport and said it was heading back but did not report an emergency, said Rolenda Lujan Faasuamalie, marketing administrator of A.B. Won Pat International Guam Airport Authority.
A United representative was not immediately available for comment.
The flight took off around 5:20 p.m. Friday and landed back on Guam at 6:21 p.m.
A flight between Guam and Nagoya takes about 3 hours and 45 minutes.
The aircraft was a Boeing 737-800.
A month ago, a United Boeing 737-800, flying as United Flight 197, bound for Guam from Narita, Japan, declared an emergency due to a "possible landing gear problem."
The plane landed safely without injuries, airport officials said.
