A 23-year-old man died today from injuries sustained following last night's motorcycle crash in Hagåtña.
Around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, the Guam Police Department activated its Highway Patrol Division to investigate a motorcycle crash on Chalan Kanton Tasi along Route 4, according to GPD spokesman Sgt. Paul Tapao.
Preliminary police reports suggest that the motorcyclist was traveling on the outer southbound lane on Route 4 Hagåtña, passed McDonald's, when the motorcyclist lost control and ran off the roadway, colliding with guardrail, Tapao stated.
Guam Fire Department medics transported the motorcyclist to the Guam Memorial Hospital, according to GFD spokeswoman Cherika Chargualaf.
Tapao said the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased earlier today by attending physicians, Tapao stated.
"This case remains opened as investigators have yet to determine if speed, alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash," Tapao added.
