Math teacher, robotics team recognized for excellence

EDUCATING EXCELLENCE & BUILDING OCEAN-SAVING TECHNOLOGY: Senators on Friday presented certificates recognizing Okkodo High School teacher Judy Naz on her selection as a recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. More certificates were given to celebrate the accomplishments of nine students, and their coach and mentor, on their performance at the FIRST Global Robotics Competition in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, last month. The team built a robot that was scored on its ability to remove "debris" from the "ocean." Team Guam placed fifth in the overall competition against 191 teams and more than 1,500 other high school students from around the world. They placed third in the ranked playoffs.
