A Superior Court of Guam jury took one day to deliberate the fate of Michael Rosal Jr.

The defendant hugged his attorney as the jury delivered the unanimous not guilty verdict on Friday.

"I think the jury reached the right decision based on the evidence," said defense attorney John Morrison, "I think the case came down the credibility of the complaining witness in this case."

Rosal was charged with first-degree and third-degree criminal sexual conduct, strangulation and family violence as a third-degree felony.

He has been acquitted of the allegations of beating and raping a 23-year-old woman known to him between June and November of 2018.

Defense counsel also filed a motion to have the case expunged. The court took the matter under consideration.
