Military aircraft diverted to GIAA

WEATHER: A U.S. Navy C-40 aircraft was diverted to the A.B. Won Pat Guam International Airport early Monday afternoon due to low visibility and strong winds. The plane was able to take off from the airport and land at Andersen Air Force Base a few hours later. David Castro/The Guam Daily Post

The heavy rain and strong winds forced a plane to land at Guam International Airport Authority.

The military aircraft was on its way to Andersen Air Force Base from Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa.

Rolenda Faasuamalie, Guam International Airport Authority marketing administrator, confirmed the US Navy C-40 was diverted due to weather.

GIAA is an alternate airport for Andersen, she stated.
