A man captured on video surveillance riding a bicycle near Bejado's Barber Shop along Loreta Street in Dededo on Thanksgiving Day faces charges of attempted murder in connection to last week's robbery that injured the shop's owner.
Frank Patrick Aitasi, 31, is expected to appear in Superior Court of Guam today for a magistrate's hearing.
He was arrested early Tuesday morning and taken into custody on charges of attempted murder, first-degree robbery, strangulation, felonious restraint, third-degree aggravated assault, criminal trespass, theft and reckless conduct.
"Community members were providing tips to Guam Crime Stoppers and directly to GPD. We were able to identify the suspect through a photo lineup," said GPD spokesperson Sgt. Paul Tapao. "Our officers alongside our GPD officers assigned to the federal task force were able to locate Aitasi in the Dededo area."
Aitasi allegedly struck the 61-year-old woman from behind while inside the barber shop. The woman was admitted and treated for several days at Guam Regional Medical City.
The barber shop remained closed on Tuesday.
