The business community along and around Loreta Street in Dededo are enhancing their security after the owner of Bejado's Barber Shop was attacked on Thanksgiving morning.
"It's shocking," said Vilma Freese, owner of Angie's Salon. "We are putting up our CCTV now."
Her salon is located just around the corner from Bejado's. Her shop has been open for 19 years and she said that, until now, she’s felt pretty safe.
"I was going home and I saw the ambulance and I heard she was struck," she said.
The 61-year-old victim was knocked unconscious in her shop by an unidentified man last Thursday. She has since been treated and released from the hospital.
Freese said the victim, who has not been identified, was at her shop just two weeks ago.
"She ran away to our shop looking for assistance because someone was harassing her," she said. "So, maybe, it's the same people because they knew she was by herself."
The shop remained closed on Monday.
The suspect, described only as heavyset with a dark complexion and black, curly hair, standing 5 feet 8 inches, was seen fleeing on a mountain bike with the victim's bag.
Anyone with information is asked to call Guam Crime Stoppers at 477-HELP.
