A man suspected in several burglaries targeting businesses was captured after he led Guam police officers on a high-speed chase through Dededo over the weekend.

Roke Mendiola Quintanilla Jr., 39, was charged with burglary, theft, assault on a peace officer, criminal mischief, eluding a police officer, criminal trespass and theft.

According to court documents, the suspect eventually crashed his car during the chase and ran. Officers were able to track him down but he resisted arrest.

Quintanilla then allegedly injured the arresting officer and was able to escape. He was later caught and taken into custody, documents state.

Reported burglaries

The first burglary was reported Jan. 11 at the Chang Chin steel supplies store in Harmon where a padlock was cut and a heavy-duty storage container was moved. Aluminum sheet metal also was missing.

On March 11, police responded to a criminal mischief complaint at ERC company in Tamuning, where a trailer valued at more than $3,000 was reported stolen. Surveillance video captured the suspect damaging a canopy pipe while allegedly stealing the trailer.

On May 16, a burglary was reported at the Carrier building in Harmon. Numerous air-conditioning units valued at approximately $8,000 were reported stolen. The suspect's car was captured on surveillance video at the site.

On May 22, another burglary was reported at that same Harmon building, where more air conditioners had gone missing. The items cost $3,500.

Finally, on June 6, LG Store in Harmon reported a burglary and missing air conditioners valued at approximately $3,700. The defendant's vehicle was spotted at the scene, court documents state.

The suspect admitted to each of the burglaries, documents state.
