Thirty of Guam's youngest leaders were inaugurated as representatives in the 32nd Guam Youth Congress on Saturday.

"Today we usher in a new wave of changemakers," Sen. Régine Biscoe Lee said during the ceremony at the Guam Congress Building. "Whether it's fighting to raise the smoking age, striving to improve education or working to protect our environment, the Guam Youth Congress has made clear that our young people are committed to playing their part in shaping the future of our island."

First established in 1972, GYC "has played a pivotal role in representing the desires and aspirations of our island's youth," according to a Guam Legislature press release.

GYC representatives chose Christian Valencia as speaker, Jacob Richards as vice speaker and Stephanie Lorenzo as secretary following their inauguration.
