The Guam Taekwondo Center will host the 2019 Master Noly’s Flying Sidekick Tournament 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15 at the Micronesia Mall.

After earning his first black belt 40 years ago, Noly Caluag has made teaching the sport to others his life’s mission.

“Taekwondo has changed my life for the better, and I’ve made it my mission to teach Guam’s youth the same skills I’ve acquired,” Caluag said.

The GTC, celebrating its 17th year, invites the public to watch the tournament free of charge.

“The flying sidekick is an advanced technique which involves executing a sidekick in mid-air after a running start,” stated a news release. "When done correctly, it is a formidable form of self-defense."
