Tritons sign Sharks' Gaerlan

The University of Guam Tritons signed Harold Gaerlan of Simon Sanchez High School to a UOG Athletic Letter of Intent and partial tuition scholarship to play basketball for the Tritons in 2019-20.

Gaerlan, a six-foot center for the Sharks who has played varsity since his freshman year, averaged 12 points and 14 boards per game in his senior season. The team's captain, he was named to the Honorable Mention All-Island in basketball for 2018-19. He also played football, made the Second Team All Island as a tight end. He was also an integral part of his school's track-and-field and cross-country teams.

The Tritons were 5-18 in 2018-19 and are restocking their roster for 2019-20 to be more competitive again against the better men's basketball teams on the island.
