The Scoop is back for school year 2020-2021

Become a Student Journalist

The Guam Daily Post’s student journalism program, The Scoop, is accepting applications for the school year 2020-2021 program, which begins in October.

To participate in The Scoop, students must meet the following criteria:
   1. Be enrolled in 10th-12th grade in a Guam public or private K-12 or high school; or be at least 15 years of age with evidence of current homeschooling.
   2. Have a reliable internet connection to join our Zoom Newsroom. We also recommend having a set of headphones to cut down on background noise and distractions.
   3. Once things get closer to “normal,” whenever that is, we ask that you have reliable transportation to The Guam Daily Post newsroom and events you will cover. Again, this is once 1.) Guam resumes community events, and 2.) We’re able to get back to event coverage.

If you meet the above requirements and wish to apply, please complete and return the 2020 Internship Application Form and Parent Consent Form, which you can download below, accompanied by a required 300-word writing sample OR original 300-word essay on “Why I would like to be a student journalist.” The writing sample can be on any topic but it must be your original work, unedited by a peer, mentor or teacher.

Email applications, parent consent forms and essays to managingeditor@postguam.com.
Deadline to apply is Sept. 25, 2020.
